Proposed Semi-permanent Roads Construction" and a corres-
ponding square or box to the right of and opposite the words
''Against Proposed Semi-permanent Road Construction", so
that the voters shall be able to designate by a cross mark in
the proper square or box his or her decision for or against
said proposed semi-permanent roads construction. If a ma-
jority of the votes cast on said question shall be "For Pro-
posed Semi-permanent Roads Construction", then this Act
shall become immediately effective. If a majority of the votes
cast thereon shall be "Against Proposed Semi-permanent
Roads Construction", then this Act shall be null and void and
of no effect whatsoever.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 396.
(House Bill 579)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 198
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1943 Edition—being Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's County",
sub-title "Cheverly", to provide for the jurisdiction and au-
thority of the Town Police Officer or Officers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 198 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1943 Edition—being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

198. The Town Police Officer or Officers shall within the
corporate limits of the town, have the same power, proceed
in the same manner and receive the same fees as constables
now receive in similar cases in which the State of Maryland
is a party. It shall be his or their duty to preserve the peace
and good order of the town.
