house", and to authorize and direct the County Com-
missioners of said County to sell the almshouse, the
proceeds to be derived therefrom to be used for roads
in said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 1 to 14, inclusive, of Article 20 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Somerset County", sub-title "Almshouse", be and they
are hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Somerset County be and they are hereby
authorized and directed to sell the almshouse in said
county as soon as practicable after the effective date of
this Act at private sale or public auction and they are
further authorized and directed to do all acts and execute
such documents as may be necessary to effectuate such
sale. The proceeds to be derived from said sale shall be
used by the County Commissioners for the purpose of
improving, extending and constructing roads in said
county.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Council of Berlin to
borrow $135,000. upon the faith and credit of said town
to erect, construct and improve the water system of
said town and to issue bonds therefor and to levy special
municipal taxes to pay the principal and interest of
said bonds.
