and in such amounts as the said Board of Trustees of the
Maryland State Firemen's Association may decide, during the
period he is so disabled or so long as said pensioner is without
other means of comfortable support.
33. In case of the death of any volunteer fireman by acci-
dent resulting from the active participation in fighting a fire
or while going to or from a fire, or performing any other duties
necessary to the operation or maintenance of the fire com-
pany, and he leaves a widow or a dependent child or children,
the case shall be laid before the Board of Trustees of the
Maryland State Firemen's Association, and if the facts are
established as provided in Section 32, the widow and
child, or children as the case may be, shall be placed on said
"Disabled Firemen's List", and the widow shall be entitled to
receive a pension from the Maryland State Firemen's Associa-
tion in a sum, the amount of which shall be decided upon by
the Board of Trustees of the Maryland State Firemen's Asso-
ciation, and to be paid out of its treasury at such times and
in such instalments and in such amount as the said Board of
Trustees of the Maryland State Firemen's Association may
decide, during widowhood, and each of the children of the
said deceased firemen shall receive a pension from the Mary-
land State Firemen's Association in a sum the amount of
which shall be decided upon by the Board of Trustees of the
Maryland State Firemen's Association and to be paid out of
its treasury at such times and in such instalments and in such
amount as the said Board of Trustees of the Maryland State
Firemen's Association may decide, until they each attain the
age of seventeen years.
35. Any child or children of permanently disabled or de-
ceased volunteer firemen whose disability or death has been
caused by an accident resulting from active participation in
fighting a fire or while going to and from a fire, or performing
any other duties necessary to the operation or maintenance of
the fire company, after having graduated from an accredited
high school, shall have the right and privilege of attending
schools of higher education at the expense of the Maryland
State Firemen's Association, which shall be at the discretion
of the Board of Trustees of the said Maryland State Firemen's
Association.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
