"Silver Spring", to define the area in which the annual
levy for the maintenance of the Silver Spring Volunteer
Fire Department, Incorporated, is to be made, and the
method of determining the amount of said levy, and to
increase the maximum rate of tax on each One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) of the property assessed for County
tax purposes in the area thus defined.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 1037 and 1038 of the Montgomery County
Code (1939 Edition), being Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County", sub-
title "Silver Spring", be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
1037. For the purpose of providing funds with which to
maintain, equip and operate a fire department in Silver
Spring, Montgomery County, the County Commissioners of
Montgomery County are hereby authorized and empowered
to levy annually against all the property assessed for County
tax purposes within that portion of the Thirteenth Election
District of said County, the boundaries of which coincide
with the boundaries of the Second (2nd), fifth (5th), Sev-
enth (7th), and Eighth (8th) Precincts of said Election
District, as said precincts were constituted in 1935, and also
the following described area:
Beginning at a point where the center line of the North-
west Branch is intersected by the line of the Washing-
ton Suburban Sanitary District as set forth in Chapter
122 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, Ses-
sion of 1918; thence southwesterly along the said line to the
center line of the Old Bladensburg Road (Wheaton-Four
Corners Road); thence in a northwesterly direction along
the center line of said Old Bladensburg Road to the point
where the center line of said road is intersected by the center
line of Sligo Branch; thence southerly along the center line
of said branch to the point where said center line intersects
the center line of the Old Forest Glen Road; thence east
along the center line of said road to a point where the
center line of said road intersects the Colesville Pike; thence
northeasterly along the center line of said pike to the center line
of the Northwest Branch; thence north along the center line
of said branch to the place of beginning, and to levy a tax
sufficient, but not in any event at a rate of more than
Ten Cents (10c) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
of the property assessed for County tax purposes in
said area, to pay annually to the Silver Spring Volunteer
Fire Department, Inc., the amount necessary to maintain,
