the purpose of making additions to the Court House at Upper
Marlboro and for the purpose of making additions to the
County Service Building at Hyattsville, provided, however,
that either of such additions may he constructed as an in-
tegral part of existing buildings or as independent detached
structures built on land already owned by the County or
acquired by it pursuant to the authority hereof, which may
be contiguous to the sites of the existing structures or at
some other location, and provided further that in the case
of making additions to the County Service Building the
County Commissioners may, if they so elect, erect an inde-
pendent County Service Building in another part of the
County if, in their judgment, such an arrangement would
be more effective in the conduct of the County's business.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That in order to carry
out the purposes of this Act as defined in Section 2 above,
the County Commissioners may employ such architectural,
engineering or technical assistance as may be necessary or
desirable to assist in the devolpment and completion of the
construction of the projects defined in said Section 2, the
costs of any such architectural, engineering or technical serv-
ices to be payable from the proceeds of the sale of the bonds
hereby authorized.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on the first day of June, 1947.

CHAPTER 367.
(House Bill 370)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
410, 411, 413 and 414 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (Flack's Edition, 1943), title
"County Police", and to repeal Sections 415 and 416C of
the said Code, making changes in the salaries of and pro-
viding for new ranks among the members of the Police
Force of the County, providing for the appointments of
three Lieutenants and an additional Sergeant and Desk
Clerk among the members of the Police Force, and pro-
viding for the establishment of a Detective Bureau.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 410 of the Public Local Laws of Prince
