to payment to the State Treasurer of all public monies
by the several clerks of court.

WHEREAS, Section 22 of said Article requires such returns
in the manner prescribed by the Comptroller, together with
other information, thereby making unnecessary the provisions
of Section 18; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 18 of Article 17 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Clerks of Courts", sub-
title "General Duties of Clerks", be and it is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 6.

(Senate Bill 89)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
2 of Article 54 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Land Office", sub-title "Commissioner—
His Powers and Duties", and to repeal Section 3 of said
Article, relating to the employees of said office and their
compensation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2 of Article 54 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Land Office", sub-title "Com-
missioner—His Powers and Duties", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2. He shall have power to appoint an Administrative
Assistant and such other employees as may be necessary and
at such compensation as shall be provided in the State Budget.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 3 of said
Article 54 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Land Office", sub-title "Commissioner—His Powers and
Duties", be and it is hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
