able property which shall be a lien on all of said property,
real, personal and mixed, within said town until paid, and said
taxes shall be due and payable on or before the first day of
August, and interest shall be chargeable on such taxes after
thirty (30) days from the time when the same are due and
payable.

201. The Clerk of Federalsburg making sale of property
for the payment of taxes due and in arrears shall be entitled
to the same fees as are allowed a Sheriff by law for selling prop-
erty under execution. The said Mayor and Council may in
their discretion, permit the Treasurer of Caroline County to
sell and collect property for delinquent town taxes under the
provisions of State Law.

202. The Mayor on the first Monday of May of each and
every year shall appoint, subject to confirmation by a majority
of the Council, not more than three persons as policemen, who
shall hold office for one year or until his successor is appointed,
confirmed and qualified, and whose duties and compensation
shall be such as are prescribed by law and by ordinance or
resolution of the Mayor and Council of Federalsburg from
time to time, and who shall within the limits of said town and
beyond them within one-half mile thereof have all the police
powers of constables of the State of Maryland, and it shall be
their duty to enforce the by -laws and ordinances of the Mayor
and Council of Federalsburg and the laws of the State of Mary-
land in relation to crimes and misdemeanors committed within
the limits of said town, and the regular policemen before en-
tering upon the duties of their office shall each take and sub-
scribe before a Notary Public of Caroline County an oath to
well and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, perform
the duties of his office in all things according to the laws of
the State and the ordinances of the Mayor and Council of
Federalsburg, and to enforce said laws and said ordinances to
the best of his ability, which oath shall be certified to by the
Notary Public before whom it shall be taken and filed with the
Clerk of Federalsburg, and the policemen so appointed shall
give bond to the Mayor and Council of Federalsburg with
surety and in such penalty as shall be prescribed by ordinance,
and said bond to be approved by the Mayor and Council of
Federalsburg.

209. The Mayor shall have power to select any trial magis-
trate in the Fifth Election District of Caroline County to serve
as Police Judge, and said trial magistrate selected as afore-
said is hereby given jurisdiction to try, hear and determine all
offenses and acts committed in disregard of the ordinances of
