ty", sub-title "Circuit Court", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

37. Every bailiff attending the Circuit Court for Howard
County shall be entitled to the sum of Five Dollars ($5.00)
for each day he shall attend said Court; and upon the certifi-
cate of the Clerk of said Court, stating the number of days
the said bailiffs have attended the said Court, the County
Commissioners for Howard County shall levy for the use of
said bailiffs, the amounts that may be due them.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date
of its passage.

CHAPTER 335.
(House Bill 173)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
(7) of Section 7 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes'',
sub-title "Ordinary Taxes. What Shall Be Taxed and
Where", increasing the amount of land owned and used by
hospitals, asylums, etc., and exempting from taxation prop-
erty held by any hospital or asylum for future use.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (7) of Section 7 of Article 81 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Reve-
nue and Taxes", sub-title "Ordinary Taxes. What Shall Be
Taxed and Where", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

(7) Buildings, equipment and furniture of hospitals,
asylums, charitable or benevolent institutions, no part of the
net income of which inures to the benefit of any private share-
holder or individual, and the ground, not exceeding one
hundred acres in area appurtenant thereto, and necessary for
the respective uses thereof.
