CHAPTER 276.
(House Bill 518)

AN ACT to repeal the Concurrent Laws for the Potomac
River, as found in Article 72 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1939 Edition), Secs. 64-73, title "Oysters", sub-title
"Potomac", and as found in Section 8 of Chapter 929 of
the Acts of 1945, title "Oysters and Clams", sub-title "Con-
current Laws on the Potomac River", and to enact in lieu
thereof a new section, to be known as Section 8 of said
Article 72.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Concurrent Oyster Laws for the Potomac River,
as found in Article 72 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), Secs. 64-73, title "Oysters", sub-title "Poto-
mac", and as found in Section 8 of Chapter 929 of the Acts
of 1945, title "Oysters and Clams", sub-title "Concurrent
Laws on the Potomac River", be and they are hereby re-
pealed and that a new section be and it is hereby enacted in
lieu thereof, to be known as Section 8 of said Article 72, and
to read as follows:

8. CONCURRENT LAWS ON THE POTOMAC RIVER, (a) (Re-
serving the Potomac River Fisheries for Maryland and Vir-
ginia.) It shall be unlawful for any person to take or catch
fish, oysters, or crabs in any manner whatever in the waters
of the Potomac River unless he be a citizen of the State of
Maryland or of the Commonwealth of Virginia and shall have
been a resident of said State or Commonwealth of which he is
a citizen for twelve months immediately preceding.

(b) (Joint Use of the Potomac River Fisheries by Maryland
and Virginia.) It shall be lawful for any citizen of the State
of Maryland or any citizen of the Commonwealth of Virginia
who has been a resident of said State or Commonwealth for
twelve months immediately preceding, and who has been duly
licensed by the State or Commonwealth of which he is a
citizen, to take or catch fish, oysters or crabs from the waters
of the Potomac River in accordance with the laws and regu-
lations of the State or Commonwealth of which he is a citizen.

(c) (Licenses for the Potomac River Fisheries.) Any citizen
of the S'tate of Maryland or of the Commonwealth of Virginia
entitled to take or catch fish, oysters or crabs from the Po-
tomac River under the provisions of the preceding Sub-section
shall first procure a license from a regularly constituted
officer determined by the laws and regulations of the State or
