SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 265.
(House Bill 425)
AN ACT to authorize the Town Commissioers of La Plata to
borrow money upon the faith and credit of the Town to
construct a new well to augment the town water supply.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Town Commissioners of La Plata be and they
are hereby authorized to borrow upon the faith and credit of
said town a sum of money not exceeding Fifteen Thousand
Dollars ($15,000.00) from such bank, trust company or other
source as they may elect for the purpose of constructing and
digging a new well, supplying same with pumps and housing
for pumps, for the purpose of augmenting the present water
supply. The Town Commissioners are authorized to give notes
and pledge the same as security for the loan at a rate of
interest not exceeding five per cent (5%) and to renew said
notes from time to time but the full amount to be repaid
within fifteen (15) years from the date of the original loan.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
