Library Committee of the Court of Appeals and the State
Library.

WHEREAS, Section 122 of Article 41 provides for the ap-
pointment of a custodian of works of reference by the Gover-
nor at an annual salary of $720 per year; and

WHEREAS, no provision is made in. the present State Budget
for such position; and

WHEREAS, the Library Committee of the Court of Appeals
and the State Library has the responsibility of purchasing
books and supervising the State Library; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 121 of Article 41 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Governor—Executive
and Administrative Departments", sub-title "State Librarian",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

121. The library committee created by Section 117 of this
Article, is authorized and empowered to appoint a person
as Law Librarian of the S'tate Library and such other em-
ployees as may be deemed necessary and at such compensa-
tion as shall be provided in the State Budget. It shall be
the duty of the said Law Librarian and other employees to
perform such services as shall be required of them by the said
library committee.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 122 of said
Article be and it is hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
