viding for the regulation of the use of buildings for the pro-
tection of public health and safety.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 755 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1943 Flack's Edition), sub-title
"Hyattsville", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
755. The Mayor and City Council may pass such ordinances
as it may deem necessary for the preservation of the health of
the city, and remove all nuisances from, and prohibit all
business within the corporate limits thereof, as shall in its
opinion affect the sanitary conditions thereof, and to prohibit
the occupancy of any building for dwelling purposes after ex-
amination and certification by the duly appointed City Health
Officer, Fire Marshal or County Building Inspector, and de-
termination by the Mayor and City Council that said building
is not safe or fit for human habitation.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
717 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1943 Flack's Edition), sub-title "Hyattsville",
changing the date when the Mayor and City Council shall
receive the election returns, determine and declare the re-
sults thereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 717 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1943 Flack's Edition), sub-title
"Hyattsville", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
717. The Mayor and City Council shall meet on the third
Monday in May following each election held under the pro-
visions of this sub-title, to receive the returns from the Mayor
or Chairman of the Council, as the case may be, and to de-
