resignation, inability to act or removal for cause of the Treas-
urer by the Mayor and City Council, it shall be its duty to
appoint another Treasurer under like conditions as to bond.

749. The Treasurer shall make all collections of taxes
and receive all money paid for the use and benefit of said
corporation; he shall keep an account of the receipts and
disbursements of the funds of the corporation, in a well bound
book to be provided by the Mayor and City Council for that
purpose, and shall render account to the Mayor and City
Council when required by them for all moneys received by
him, and shall promptly disburse on the order of the Mayor
and City Council under such regulations as it may prescribe,
all sums of moneys so received by him. His compensation
shall be fixed by the Mayor and City Council.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 224.
(House Bill 196)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
716 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1943 Flack's Edition), sub-title "Hyattsville", pro-
viding for appointment of registration officers, judges and
clerks of election.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 716 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1943 Flack's Edition), sub-title
"Hyattsville", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

716. The Mayor and City Council shall have full power
and authority and are hereby authorized and directed to
appoint biennially two registration officers for the entire city;
to appoint two judges and two clerks of election biennially for
