salary of $1500. and shall act as warden of the jail. The
Sheriff shall be allowed extra car mileage and out-of-
county mileage at the rate of ten cents per mile. He shall
be allowed eighty cents per day for boarding each prisoner
committed to the County Jail. He may appoint a cook for
said jail who shall receive a salary of $50. per month.
(1) The Sheriff of Harford County shall receive an
annual salary of $3000. and $300. for every execution of
the death sentence. He shall appoint such deputies and
at such compensation as may be provided by the County
Commissioners of said County.
(m) The Sheriff of Howard County shall receive an
annual salary of $2500. He shall appoint two deputy
sheriffs who shall each receive an annual salary of $1500.
and who shall provide their own automobiles. He may
also appoint temporarily such additional deputy sheriffs
as he may deem necessary for the public safety and the
County Commissioners shall allow reasonable compensa-
tion for same, but such deputies shall not serve longer
than the case actually warrants.
(n) The Sheriff of Kent County shall receive an annual
salary of $2500. and $400. during his term toward the
purchase of an automobile to be used by him and his
deputy for general work of the office. He may appoint a
deputy who shall receive an annual salary of $1500.
(o) The Sheriff of Montgomery County shall receive
an annual salary of $3000. and $600. per year for opera-
tion of automobile and $400. per year for the term of said
Sheriff, the total of which may be furnished the Sheriff
when his term commences or when the County Commis-
sioners see fit, for the purchase of an automobile to be used
by the Sheriff or his deputies for the general public work
of the office, which automobile shall be maintained by the
Sheriff without any cost to the County, and $600. annually
for the operation of said automobile. He shall appoint
such deputies at such compensation as is provided by
Public General or Public Local Laws.
(p) The Sheriff of Prince George's County shall receive
an annual salary of $4000. He may appoint such deputies
and assistants as he may deem necessary and at such com-
pensation as he shall fix but the compensation of all such
deputies and assistants shall not exceed $4700. He may
also appoint a stenographer at an annual salary of $1500.
(q) The Sheriff of Queen Anne's County shall receive
an annual salary of $1800. and the Sheriff may appoint a
