2074 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 861

472 (A). The corporate powers of said town shall be
vested in and shall be exercised by, and that said town shall
be governed by a Commission to be known as the District
Heights Commission. Said Commission shall be composed of
five commissioners, elected at large. The three commissioners
now in office will continue to hold office until the expiration
of their terms as specified in this Charter, and will have
authority to appoint two additional commissioners, one of
whom shall serve until the next annual election after the
effective date of the amendment of the Charter, the other
shall serve until the second annual election after the effective
date of the Amendment of the Charter. Said Commissioners,
when duly elected shall serve for a period of three years.
Said Commissioners shall be selected and shall qualify as
such commissioners in the manner provided for in this sub-
title.

472 (I). Said Commission shall by resolution appoint a
Town Treasurer to be known as the Treasurer of the Town
of District Heights who shall also act as Clerk to said Com-
mission. The Commission is hereby authorized to pay the
Treasurer, as compensation, an amount equivalent to not
more than ten per cent (10%) of the monies received by him
for the benefit of the town, in any one calendar year payable
in quarterly installments.

472 (M). The District Heights Commission may appoint
a health officer in the same manner as other appointments
are made, who shall be a reputable practicing physician
duly licensed to practice within the State of Maryland, whose
duty it shall be to have charge of and supervision over all
matters of health and health regulations or ordinances within
the town and he shall receive such salary or compensation
as the said Commission shall fix. The Health Officer shall
make as frequent inspections as may be necessary to main-
tain the public health and sanitary conditions of the town,
and for this purpose he is vested with similar authority as
exercised by other health officers of the State, Counties or
other municipal corporations within the State of Maryland,
within the corporate limits of the Town of District Heights.
The health officer so appointed shall serve for a term of one
year and may be reappointed for additional terms of one year
each.

473 (A). The Town of District Heights and the District
Heights Commission shall have power to adopt building, elec-
trical, use and occupancy, and zoning regulations, and charge
reasonable permit fees, and may appoint a building inspector
