2050 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 850

CHAPTER 850.

(House Bill 777)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
475A of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-title "Dis-
trict Heights", providing as follows: For increasing the
property tax rate from thirty (0.30) cents per One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) assessed value to a maximum of seventy-
five (0.75) cents per one hundred dollars assessed value,
and providing for a referendum thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 475A "of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-
title "District Heights", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

475. The District Heights Commission shall have power to
levy, in the established month for levy in Prince George's
County of each year, beginning with the calendar year 1947,
taxes at the rate of not exceeding seventy-five cents (0.75)
on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of the assessed value
of real property within said town based on the State and
County assessments for all purposes; provided, however, that
the pro rata part of the maximum seventy-five cents (0.75)
tax shall be assessed after March 1, 1947, as it bears to the
whole for the calendar year 1947, for the purpose of
defraying governmental expenses of said town to provide
for the collection of garbage and trash, ashes and the
repair of streets, street lights, etc., and that the Treasurer
of Prince George's County shall be and he is hereby
authorized to give to the District Height Commission, or the
Treasurer of said town a copy of the tax list for said town,
annually or as often as is necessary and all taxes so levied
shall be a lien on any and all property of the person, firm,
partnership, company, association or corporation against
whom they may be levied.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not
become effective until it shall have been submitted to the
qualified voters of the Town of District Heights, in Prince
George's County, at the next regular municipal election, or
at a special election to be held on such date as shall be
determined by the Town Commissioners of said Town. There
shall be printed on the ballots to be used at said election,
the title of this Act and underneath said title on separate
lines, a square or box to the right of and opposite the words
