SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"State Police", sub-title "Pensions", said new section to be
known as Section 35A, to follow immediately after Section
35 of said Article, and to read as follows:
35A. (a) There is hereby created a Board of Trustees of
the Retirement and Pension System of the Maryland State
Police. Said Board shall consist of five trustees, as follows:
the State Budget Director, the State Comptroller, the State
Treasurer, the Superintendent of State Police and one mem-
ber of the Department of Maryland State Police to be ap-
pointed by the Board of Public Works Said Board shall be
organized immediately after three of such trustees have quali-
fied and taken the oath of office.
(b) On and after June 1, 1947, or as soon thereafter as the
said Board of Trustees is organized, the functions, duties and
obligations of the Superintendent of State Police with respect
to the administration of the retirement and pension system, es-
tablished by this sub-title, are hereby transferred and vested
in the said Board of Trustees.
(c) Whenever the term "Superintendent of State Police"
or "Superintendent of the Department of Maryland State Po-
lice" is used in this sub-title with respect to the administra-
tion of the said retirement and pension system or with respect
to contributions thereto, such term shall be taken to mean the
said Board of Trustees.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
