"Prince George's County", sub-title "Takoma Park", sub-
heading "Mayor and Council", as said section was enacted
by Chapter 754 of the Acts of 1945, be and they are hereby
repealed, and that eight new sub-sections be and they are
hereby enacted in lieu thereof, said new sub-sections to be
known as Sub-sections (E) to (L), inclusive, of Section
1105 of the Montgomery County Code, to follow immediately
after Sub-section (D) of Section 1105 of said Code, and to
be known as Sub-sections (E) to (L), inclusive, of Section
1298 of the Prince George's County Code, to follow immedi-
ately after Sub-section (D) of Section 1298 of said Code, and
all to read as follows:
1105 (1298). (E) The chief police officer, and all police
officers of said City, shall act under the immediate direction
of the Mayor and shall perform such duties, in addition to
those herein prescribed, as the said Mayor and Council
may direct. The said chief police officer and all other
police officers of the City shall preserve, the peace, pre-
vent disorderly or irregular meetings, and shall enforce and
cause to he enforced all ordinances and police regulations
of the City and all State and county laws within the cor-
porate limits of. the City, and shall make and cause to be
made all lawful arrests for and prosecute any and all viola-
tions of the ordinances and police regulations of the said
City and any and all violations of any law of the State of
Maryland, or of the counties of Montgomery and of Prince
George's respectively, committed within the corporate limits of
said City, and shall swear out all necessary warrants therefor,
Such chief police officer and all such other police officers
shall serve notices and processes required by this Charter or
by any ordinance passed by virtue thereof, as directed, and
may be allowed the same fees therefor as are allowed for
like service in the State or in said counties respectively.
(F) The Council may also appoint such other officers, in-
cluding additional police officers, as may be necessary to
carry out the provisions of this Charter; the Mayor, in cases
of emergency, may appoint special police officers for such
periods, not exceeding thirty days, as he may deem necessary.
(G) The Council may allow any of the officers of the City
such compensation for their services as may be deemed rea-
sonable, and may appoint the same person to perform the
duties of more than one office.
(H) The Council and all other officers of the corporation
shall, before they enter upon the duties of their respective
