service of any of the foregoing without reference to the Super-
intendent.
957. The Board shall determine all questions of general
policy relating to public recreation in and for those portions
of the Maryland-Washington Metropolitan District, as de-
fined in Chapter 1008, Laws of Maryland, 1943, and the
Maryland-Washington Regional District, as defined in Chap-
ter 992, Laws of Maryland, 1943, lying within Prince George's
County or any territorial additions or extensions thereto in
Prince George's County or to any other municipality, elec-
tion, recreation, or other district or political subdivision in
Prince George's County recommended by the County Com-
missioners and approved by the Board. The area or areas in-
cluded within the Board's jurisdiction shall be described as
the Prince George's County Recreation District.
The Board shall allocate, supervise, and direct the expen-
diture of all appropriations and/or other funds made available
to it from whatever source; but no such funds shall be ex-
pended for or in any areas outside of the Recreation District.
958. The Board shall be guided by the following objectives:
(1) To provide an adequate and balanced recreation pro-
gram to serve the varied needs and interests of people in the
several age groups in the Prince George's County Recreation
District;
(2) To provide facilities separated as to functions, so that
individuals or groups having related recreational interests may
pursue their activities unhampered by, and without inter-
ference with, those otherwise occupied; and
(3) To provide adequate distribution and sufficient num-
ber and area of each type of facility within the Recreation
District.
In the location of recreational facilities in the Maryland-
Washington Regional District, the Board shall be guided by
the Master Plan of Recreation and/or proposals and studies
preparatory thereto, developed by the Maryland-National
Capital Park and Planning Commission as part of the gen-
eral plan for the physical development of the Maryland-Wash-
ington Regional District, and by the recommendations of the
Advisory Board to the County Commissioners of Prince
George's County.
In the furtherance and accomplishment of the objectives
set forth above, the Board shall have the power to adopt, con-
duct, direct, or cause to be conducted or directed under its
supervision a comprehensive program of public recreation
