Commissioner for examination and by him endorsed as being
in accordance with the provisions of this Article, and not in-
consistent with the laws and Constitution of this S'tate, be-
fore the same may be received by the State Tax Commission
for record, and no such agreement of consolidation and no
such agreement of merger shall be operative until all the
provisions of this section shall have been complied with.

SEC. 2. And he it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 135.
(House Bill 118)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-sec-
tion (c) of Section 82 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title
"Elections", said Article 33 having been revised by Chapter
934 of the Acts of 1945, providing for the arrangement of
the titles of offices on voting machines in Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (c) of Section 82 of Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Elec-
tions", sub-title "Elections", said Article 33 having been re-
vised by Chapter 934 of the Acts of 1945, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

82(c). The titles of offices may be arranged horizontally
or vertically, with the names of candidates for an office ar-
ranged transversely under or opposite the title of the office.
In Baltimore City the titles of offices shall be so arranged
that (1) there shall first appear those titles of offices for
which the voters of the entire State or of an entire Congres-
sional district may vote, (2) there shall next appear the titles
of offices in the General Assembly of Maryland, and (3) there
shall next appear the titles of offices for which the voters of
Baltimore City may vote, including, but not limited to, the
offices of Sheriff, Register of Wills, State's Attorney, City
Surveyor, Judges of the Orphans' Court, and of clerks of the
several courts comprising the Supreme Bench of said City.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
