County Commissioners of Baltimore County to pay increased
pensions to certain teachers in Baltimore County schools
retired prior to June 1, 1927.
WHEREAS, Teachers retired and pensioned under local retire-
ment fund prior to June 1, 1927, do not participate in the
benefits of the State Retirement Fund for Teachers under the
provisions of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
and by Section 97 of said Article 77, such teachers are only
entitled to receive the amount of pensions which they were
receiving in 1927, and
WHEREAS, There are still a few persons on the pension rolls
of Baltimore County as school teachers retired and pensioned
prior to June 1, 1927, and the allowances to some of said
teachers authorized and required to be paid by Section 97 of
Article 77, is inadequate; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That one new section be and the same is hereby added to
Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Baltimore County", sub-title "Teachers' Retire-
ment Fund", said new section to be known as Section 723, to
follow immediately after Section 722 of said Article, and to
read as follows:
723. The County Commissioners of Baltimore County are
authorized, empowered and directed to pay to each former
school teacher in Baltimore County schools, retired and pen-
sioned prior to June 1, 1927, the sum of not less than Fifty
($50.00) Dollars per month, nor more than Ninety ($90.00)
Dollars per month.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Jaws or parts of
laws, local or general, inconsistent herewith, be and the same
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
