alleys, sidewalks, parking, draining, sewerage, sanitation and
other village maintenance and improvements, clerical and
other public service, for furnishing police protection and public
service, including the removal of ashes, garbage, and other
refuse, and disposal thereof; for the employment of a building
inspector to enforce the requirements of all deeds of convey-
ance for properties situated in said village for enforcing such
building, sanitary and other regulations as said Board of
Managers subject to the approval of the Board of County
Commissioners may prescribe for said village, or for any part
or section thereof.

79. At the said meeting of registered and qualified voters
of said Chevy Chase Village to be held on the third Monday of
April, 1947, and on the same date every two years thereafter
upon a reasonable notice being given, there shall be elected
the Chevy Chase Village Board of Managers, which shall con-
sist of seven (7) residents of said Chevy Chase Village, who
shall be registered and qualified voters of the State, each of
whom shall qualify on the first Monday of May thereafter as a
Member of the Board of Managers by taking an oath to
diligently and faithfully discharge all duties of the office, and
they shall constitute such Chevy Chase Village Board of Man-
agers for the ensuing two (2) years. In case any such persons
so elected as Members of the Board of Managers shall fail to
qualify on the date named, or in case of any vacancy through
death, resignation or otherwise, the remaining Members of
the Board of Managers shall fill such vacancy by the appoint-
ment of a resident registered and qualified voter of said
village, who shall hold office for such term or unexpired term.

80. (a) Said Chevy Chase Village Board of Managers is
empowered to grade, pave, macadamize or otherwise improve
any existing dedicated street, road or lane, or any county road,
street or lane, which has been, or which may be acquired and
opened for public use, but which is ungraded, unpaved, or un-
improved, and to lay sidewalks and curbs thereon, provided
that said Board of Managers, subject to the approval of the
Board of County Commissioners and after due publication
thereof, shall have power to assess the cost of said grading,
paving, macadamizing, or improving against the property
abutting on said street, road, lane or sidewalk, in proportion
to the frontage of said abutting property on the same. Said
Board of Managers, subject to the approval of said Board of
County Commissioners, is also further empowered, and after
due public notice thereof, to acquire by purchase, condemnation
or otherwise, according to law, property for sewerage disposal
purposes of part of said village and to assess the cost of such
