of writing conveying any interest in any lands, referring for
a part of the description of the same to a plat mentioned as
being recorded among the land record books or plat case
boxes of said county, shall be taken and deemed to refer to
the place at which the said new plats shall, by the said clerk's
certificate, be stated to be recorded.
(9) The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Allegany County is
hereby authorized and directed to have true and accurate
copies made by a competent draftsman and/or engineer or
by photostatic (photo copy) methods or a combination of
said methods, of all the plats of sub-divisions of land recorded
among the Land Record Books of said county prior to the 1st
day of June, 1947. Said copies shall be made upon a good
quality of blue print linen of the dimensions required by Sub-
section 1 of this Act; and the scale upon which the original
plats were drawn shall be so reduced as to allow the copy to
be made of the size hereby required; provided, however, that
where it is deemed by said clerk to be expedient so to do, the
said copies may be made in sections as elsewhere in this Act
allowed; when and as such copies are made they shall be in-
serted and recorded in a Plat Book or Books of the same kind
and dimensions as elsewhere herein directed and shall become
parts of the official Land Records of said county. Upon the
insertion of said copy or copies in said Plat Book or Books,
the clerk shall note upon the margin of said original plat or
plats the number and page of the Plat Book where said copy
is recorded, and shall note on the plat so inserted in said Plat
Book the Liber and folio or plat case box of the Land Records
where said plat was originally recorded. And all references
in conveyances of land or any other legal proceeding contain-
ing reference to said plat by the place of its original record,
shall be held to apply and refer to the copy of said plat made
and recorded in Plat Books as herein provided.
(10) The said Clerk shall employ a competent surveyor or
draftsman who shall, under the direction of said Clerk, make
the copies of plats hereby required, and where necessary so
reduce the scale of such plats as to conform to the require-
ments herein contained; and, where such scale is so reduced,
the draftsman or person making the same shall note on said
copies the scale upon which the original plat was drawn. The
compensation of the person so employed shall be fixed by said
Clerk and approved by the Judges of the Circuit Court for
said county, provided the total expenditure for this purpose
shall not exceed $1,000.00 in any single year.
(11) The County Commissioners of said County shall levy
for and pay to the person who may as aforesaid be selected to
make copies of such plats such sums of money as may be
