SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 762.
(House Bill 462)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
2-HH of the Maryland-Washington Regional District Act,
as enacted by Chapter 992, Laws of Maryland of 1943, the
purpose of the amendments being to revise the procedure
for adoption of building regulations, so as to permit the
separate adoption of uniform rules and regulations and
amendments thereto in the respective portions of the Dis-
trict in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2-HH of the Maryland-Washington Regional
District Act, enacted by Chapter 992 of the Laws of Maryland,
1943, be, and the same is, hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

HH. The Commission is hereby authorized, empowered,
and directed to regulate through rules and regulations, which
shall be uniform in the respective portions of the District in
Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, the construction,
improvement, and demolition of all types of buildings within
the District as it may deem necessary; to regulate and establish
the size of bricks and thickness of walls that are to be used in
the houses to be built in said District or any portion thereof;
to provide for the entry into and examination of all buildings,
lots, yards and enclosures and cars, boats, and vehicles of
every description in said District to ascertain their condition
for health, cleanliness, and safety; to provide for the taking
down and removal of buildings, walls, structures, or super-
structures in said District that are or may become dangerous,
or to require owners to move them or to put them in a safe
and sound condition at their own expense; to regulate the
building and maintenance of party walls, partitions, fences,
parapet and fire walls, smoke flues, fire places, hot-air flues,
