SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 712.
(House Bill 207)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
1327 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (Flack's 1943 Edition), to authorize the Board of
County Commissioners to provide regulations for rates of
fares of taxicabs in said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1327 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (Flack's 1943 Edition), be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
1327. The Board of County Commissioners of Prince
George's County, Maryland, are hereby authorized and em-
powered to enact ordinances providing regulations for the
operation of taxicabs in said County and for the registration
and fixing requirements for the owners and operators of taxi-
cabs so that to protect the safety, health and general welfare
of said County and its residents, citizens and occupants, pro-
vided said regulations are not in conflict with the laws of
the State of Maryland, and regulations adopted by the Com-
missioner of Motor Vehicles.
The powers hereinbefore granted to the Board of County
Commissioners shall include supervision over and control
of rates of fares of taxicabs and the procedure of such super-
vision and control shall be similar in manner and form to
the provisions of Article 23, "Corporations", sub-title "Public
Service Commission", Section 344, et seq., as to fares of taxi-
cabs. And the Board of County Commissioners shall also
have power to consult and agree with public utility boards
and commissions of adjoining jurisdictions both within and
without the State of Maryland, as to fixing rates of fares of
taxicabs carrying passengers for hire to and from the adjoin-
ing jurisdictions, provided the same is not in conflict with
the laws of the State of Maryland or of the United States of
America.
