CHAPTER 116.
(House Bill 13)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-section
(8) of Section 7 of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Pensions", sub-title
"Service Retirement Benefit", sub-heading "Death Benefit",
eliminating the provision requiring the beneficiary of a
member of the State Employees' Retirement System, to have
an insurable interest in said member.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (8) of Section 7 of Article 73B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Pen-
sions", sub-title "Service Retirement Benefit", sub-heading
"Death Benefit", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

(8) Upon the receipt of proper proofs of the death of a
member in service there shall be paid to such person as he shall
have nominated by written designation duly executed and
filed with the Board of Trustees, otherwise to his estate:
(a) His accumulated contributions; and (b) If the member
has one or more years of creditable service, an amount equal to
fifty per centum of his average final compensation.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 117.
(House Bill 14)
AN ACT to repeal Section 7(11) of Article 73B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Pen-
sions", sub-title "Benefits", sub-heading "Pensions Offset
by Compensation Benefits", said sub-section providing that
amounts payable by the State under the provisions of the
Workmen's Compensation Law should be offset against
and payable in lieu of benefits payable under said Article
and making the provision retroactive to June 1, 1941.
