WM. PRESTON LANK, JR., GOVERNOR, 1649

of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title "County
Treasurer", said new section to be known as Section 804A,
to follow immediately after Section 804 of said Article,
and to read as follows:

804A. It shall be the duty of the County Treasurer of
Washington County to set up and furnish the taxes due on
motor vehicles owned by the residents of every incorpo-
rated town or municipality in Washington County, and
send the same to the Department of Motor Vehicles in
accordance with Section 273 of Chapter 753 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1945. The Depart-
ment shall make the remittance at least once each month to
the County Treasurer of Washington County and the taxes
collected by it on the motor vehicles owned by residents
of said towns and municipalities, and the County Treasurer
shall then remit to the several towns and municipalities
within Washington County the taxes so collected. And
for the services as aforesaid, the County Treasurer of
Washington County shall receive five per cent. (5%) of
the taxes so remitted by the County Treasurer to the said
towns and municipalities, which sum so received or re-
tained by the said Treasurer for said services shall be paid
over and credited to the general funds of Washington
County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts incon-
sistent with the provisions hereof be and they are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and being passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
