and after June 1,1947, no individual tract of land or water
in excess of one hundred acres shall be acquired in Garrett
County, except with the approval of the County Commis-
sioners of said County. The Game Warden may purchase
or erect such buildings as may be deemed necessary prop-
erly to maintain and protect such lands or for propagation
of game and fish and may also purchase or lease lands
from which the ownership of minerals, oil, or gas and the
right to mine and drill for the same have been excepted.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
3 of Article 39A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Forestry", prohibiting the pur-
chase of additional land in Garrett County for forest
reserves, except with the approval of the County Com-
missioners of said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 of Article 39A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Forestry", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read
as follows:
3. The State Department of Forestry shall have the
power to purchase lands in the name of the State, suitable
for forest culture and reserves, using for such purposes
any special appropriation or any surplus money not other-
wise appropriated, which may be standing to the credit
of the Forest Reserve Fund, provided that on and after
June 1, 1947, no individual tract of land in excess of one
hundred acres shall be purchased in Garrett County,
except with the approval of the County Commis-
sioners of said County and to make all rules and regu-
lations governing State Reserves, and to employ such
labor and do such work as they deem wise in developing
and protecting State Reserves under their jurisdiction;
and that the Governor of the State is authorized upon the
