WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR. 1345

Article, establishing a County Roads Board for Dor-
chester County and relating to its powers and duties
and relating to the compensation of certain employees
thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 454 of Article 10 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dorchester
County", sub-title "Roads", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, and that two new sec-
tions be and they are hereby added to said Article, and
title, said new sections to be known as Sections 451 1/2 and
452A, said Section 451 1/2 to follow immediately after
Section 451 of said Article, and said Section 452A to follow
immediately after Section 452 of said Article, and all to
read as follows:

454. (a) The said County Roads Board shall, within
sixty days after the passage of this Act, appoint some com-
petent person as County Roads Engineer of Dorchester
County, who shall have sufficient knowledge of civil engi-
neering and road construction to enable him accurately to
make surveys, plats, profiles and specifications for the grad-
ing, draining, maintenance, repair and construction of the
public roads and bridges of said county, and also to do all
necessary engineering work for the building or rebuilding
of roads and bridges, and who shall have had such expe-
rience in road engineering work as the said Board may
deem proper, and the said County Road Engineer shall hold
his office for such a term as may be agreed upon by contract
at the time of his appointment, and the County Road Engi-
neer shall receive such a salary per year, payable monthly,
and such other sum for traveling expenses as may be
deemed necessary by the County Roads Board.

(b) The said County Roads Board is authorized and
empowered to employ such other personnel and fix their
salaries as it deems necessary to carry out the provisions
of this sub-title.

451 1/2. (a) A County Roads Board for Dorchester
County is hereby created. The Board of County Commis-
sioners of Dorchester County is hereby constituted the
said County Roads Board. The Clerk to said Board of
County Commissioners is hereby constituted clerk to said
County Roads Board and the Attorney to said Board of
County Commissioners is hereby constituted Attorney to
said County Roads Board.
