title "Washington County", sub-title "Hagerstown",
to be under sub-heading "The Washington County His-
torical Society, Incorporated", said new section to be
known as Section 414B and to follow immediately after
Section 414A of said Article, authorizing The Mayor
and Council of Hagerstown to participate in the restora-
tion of the home of Jonathan Hager and to contribute
a sum of money for that purpose and to levy taxes
sufficient to obtain the amount of such contribution.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title "Hagers-
town", to be under sub-heading "The Washington County
Historical Society, Incorporated", said new section to be
known as Section 414B and to follow immediately after
Section 414A of said Article, and to read as follows:

414B. The Mayor and Council of Hagerstown is hereby
authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to participate
in the restoration of the home of Jonathan Hager, the
founder of Hagerstown, now located on property owned
by The Washington County Historical Society, Incor-
porated, and the said The Mayor and Council of Hagers-
town is hereby authorized to enter into a contract to con-
tribute to said Association, such sum of money, not ex-
ceeding Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars, as it may deem
advisable and necessary for said purpose, said money to
raised by taxation on the assessable property located
within the taxable limits of the City of Hagerstown.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 182 and 184 of Article 12 of the Cade of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett
County," sub-title "Fire Departments," as said sections
were amended by Chapter 343 of the Acts of 1943, re-
lating to the amounts to be paid to certain volunteer
