Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "Police Department", as said Section
was amended by Chapter 639 of the Acts of 1943, be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
406 1/2- The "Anne Arundel County Police Force" is
hereby created. Said Police Force shall consist of a Chief
of Police, one lieutenant, four sergeants, three desk ser-
geants, and twenty-four officers and no other employees
whatsoever but the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County may, upon the request of the Police
Commission, appoint not exceeding eight (8) additional
officers. The salaries of said members of said Police Force
shall be as follows: Chief of Police, Thirty-five Hundred
($3,500.00) Dollars per annum; Lieutenant, Twenty-nine
Hundred ($2,900.00) Dollars per annum; sergeants,
Twenty-six Hundred ($2,600.00) Dollars per annum;
patrolmen, Twenty-one Hundred ($2,100.00) Dollars
for the first year of service; Twenty-two Hundred
($2,200.00) Dollars for the second year of service;
Twenty-three Hundred ($2,300.00) Dollars for the third
year of service, and Twenty-four Hundred ($2,400.00)
Dollars for the fourth year of service and thereafter.
All of said salaries shall be paid semi-monthly and no
other compensation whatsoever shall be paid to
or received by any members of said Police Department.
The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
may, in their discretion, reduce the salaries hereinbefore
provided, if in the opinion of the Police Commission eco-
nomic conditions so warrant and provided further that
no salary shall be reduced more than Three Hundred
Sixty ($360.00) Dollars per annum.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.
