or receive instruction as required by this section. Nothing
in the provisions of this section shall be construed to re-
quire the school attendance of any child who shall have
been legally withdrawn from school before July 1, 1949.
Any person who has a child under his control and who
fails to comply with any of the provisions of this section
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and be fined not
exceeding five dollars for each offense.
Any person who induces or attempts to induce any child
to absent himself unlawfully from school, or employs or
harbors while school is in session any child absent unlaw-
fully from school, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and be fined not more than fifty dollars.
220. It shall be the duty of the principal or head
teacher of every public or private school in this State to
report immediately to the superintendent of schools, or to
the supervisor of pupil personnel, or other official desig-
nated by the superintendent of the county or of Baltimore
City in which such school is located, the names of all
children enrolled in his or her school who have been absent
or irregular in attendance, without lawful excuse, or who
show evidence of maladjustment, so that the causes may
be studied and solutions worked out.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1949.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 77 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public
Education", sub-title "Chapter 2. Formation of Boards",
said new section to be known as Section 7A and to follow
immediately after Section 7 of said Article, relating to
the appointment of the County Board of Education for
Calvert County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 77
