BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 24th, 1878.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Select Committee, to consist of
four members on the part of the House, and three members
on the part of the Senate, on the subject of "Temperance, "
to which Committee all petitions and memorials pertaining to
the subject shall be referred.

We have appointed on the part of the House Messrs. Yel-
lott, Smith, Thompson and Lugenbeel.

Which, was read.

Also, delivered,

House Joint Resolutions authorizing and directing the
State Librarian to subscribe to two hundred and fifty copies
of Wm. H. S. Burgwyn's Digest of the Maryland Reports, &c.

Which were read the first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on the Library.

Mr. Freeman submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 25th, 1878.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing the appointment
of a Joint Special Committee, to consist of four Members on
the part of the House, and three Members on the part of
the Senate, on the subject of "Temperance, " to which
Committee all petitions and memorials pertaining to the
subject shall be referred, and concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Senators
Freeman, Gorman and Sulivane.
