Hepbron, Hill, Humphreys, Joyce, Lancaster, Lee, McLane,
Miller, Newcomer, Peter, Steiner, Stump, Sulivane, Welfley,
Wilson. —24.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. Dennis presented the petition of Rev. S. P. Marshall
and 201 other citizens of Fairmount District, in Somerset
County, praying an amendment to the Local Option Law in
said County.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Stump presented the petition of Eldridge B. Gallup
and 34 other citizens of Harford County, praying an Act to
repeal and re-enact Section 3 of the Law prohibiting the
staking of nets in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay above
Poole's Island, so as to include all the waters of Harford
County.

Which was read and referred to Senators Stump, Miller and
Freeman.

Mr. Humphreys submitted the following order:

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns to-day, it stand
adjourned until Tuesday next, at 12 o'clock.

Which was adopted.

On motion by Mr. Stump, it was

Ordered, That Clement Sulivane, Senator from Dorchester,
be excused from attendance until Thursday next, that he
may attend to urgent private business.

On motion by Mr, Humphreys,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to refund to William How-
ard, of Wicomico County, a sum of money improperly paid
into the Treasury.

On motion by Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries, to introduce a bill to be entitled an
Act for the better protection of Terrapins in the tributaries of
the Chesapeake.

On motion by Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries, to introduce a bill to be entitled an
Act to repeal an Act passed at January Session, 1872, Chapter
243, entitled an Act to repeal Sections 33 and 34, of Chapter
