The vote by which said bill failed for want of a Constitu-
titional majority was reconsinered.
Senate bill to authorize the Washington City and Point
Lookout Railroad Company to purchase the rights and prop-
erty, real and personal, of the Southern Maryland Railroad
Company.
Being upon its second reading.
Mr. Combs submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all after "A bill" and insert:
"Entitled an Act to amend the charter of the Washington
City and Point Lookout Railroad Company, and to enlarge
the powers thereof so as to enable said Company to purchase
the rights and property, real and personal, of the Southern
Maryland Railroad Company.
"Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Washington City and Point Lookout Rail-
road Company, a corporation duly organized on the twenty-
fourth day of February, eighteen hundred and seventy-two,
under the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of
Maryland, entitled an Act to provide for the creation and
regulation of incorporated Companies in the State of Mary-
land, approved April the fourth, eighteen hundred and sev-
enty, is hereby authorized and empowered to purchase the
rights and property, real and personal, or the railroad, or
any part of the railroad of the Southern Maryland Railroad
Company, a corporation created under the provisions of the
Act of the General Assembly, passed at the January Session,
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight. Chapter one hundred and
fifty, at any sale thereof which may hereafter be made under
the decree or order of any Court of competent jurisdiction, or
under the provisions of any mortgage or deed or trust duly
executed.
"Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the date of its passage.
