Mr. Joyce submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Insert at end of line 13, "that the said $500,000, or any
part thereof, shall not be paid until the said Maryland and
Delaware Ship Canal is completed."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read a second time.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and de-
livered the following bills:

House bill to ratify the construction placed upon Section
25, of Article 38, Code of Public General Laws, title "Fees
of Officers," sub-title "Notaries Public," by the Notaries
Public of Baltimore City, and to authorize the refunding of
money paid into the Treasury under a different construction.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Finance.

House bill to authorize and direct the Board of Public
Works to procure the exchange of a certain lot of ground ad-
joining the Western Hay Scales.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Finance.

House bill to amend certain sections of Article 28, Code of
Public General Laws, relating to draining lands.

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs,
Ford, Miller and Lloyd.

House bill to amend Sections 13 and 15, of Article 98, re-
lating to wild fowl.

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs.
Combs of Allegany, Stump and Lee.

On motion by Mr. Stump,

The rules were suspended so as to enable him to report and
give a second reading this day to said bill,

By yeas and nays, as follows :
