Endorsed: "Passed by yeas and nays. "

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Howard County, to pay to David Carsen, sur-
viving executor of David Hayes, a sum of money erroneously
paid by him and his co-executor for taxes of the estate of
David Hayes.

Endorsed: "Passed by yeas and nays."

On motion by Mr. Joyce,
The Senate at 11.30 P. M., adjourned.

SATURDAY, March 30th, 1878.
Senate met at 12 P. M.
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Travers.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Bannon, Combs, of Allegany, Combs,
of St. Mary's, Cooper, Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Freeman,
Garey, Gorman, Hepbron, Hill, Humphreys, Joyce, Lan-
caster, Lee, McLane, Miller, Newcomer, Steiner, Stump, Sul-
jvane, Welfley—24.

On motion by Mr. Ford,
The reading of the Journal was dispensed with.

Mr. Lancaster presented the memorial of Miss F. A. Mudd,
Ada T. Hamilton and 80 other ladies of Charles County,
praying the passage of a Local Option Law for said county.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Memorial of N. M. Mitchell and others for aid to establish
a branch of Orphans' Relief Manual Labor School and Home
for Destitute Children and Old Helpless Persons of Color.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Finance.
Mr. Joyce, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Bal-
timore to subscribe to the capital stock of the Maryland and
Delaware Ship Canal Company, or to endorse the bonds of
said Company,
