Resolved, That the clerk of this branch be directed to for-
ward copies of these Resolutions to the Speaker of the House
of Delegates, and to the President of the Senate of Maryland.

I have the honor to be very respectfully,

Which was read and referred to the Baltimore City
Senators.

Mr. Humphreys presented the petition of 74 tax payers of
Salisbury, asking for an Act to authorize the Commissioners
of the Town of Salisbury, Wicomico County, to appropriate
the sum of five hundred dollars to defray the expense of a fire
engine.

Which was read and referred to Senators Humphreys, Den-
nis and Stump.

Mr. Hepbron presented the petition of John F. Howard,
and 82 others of the Fourth District, of Kent County, also,
the petition of T. W. Eliason and 25 others of the Fourth
District, of Said County, also, the petition of J. N. Usilton
and 7 others of the Fourth District of said County, also, the
petition of T. L. Wilson and 5 others of the Second District
of said County, praying for an Act to enable the voters of the
several election districts of said County, to decide for them-
selves whether liquors shall or shall not be sold in their said
election districts.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

The Hon. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, appeared and
delivered a communication from the Executive endorsed "Ex-
ecutive business. "

The President presented to the Senate the petition of Lewis
Tarr and one hundred other citizens of the Fourth Election
District of Talbot County, and also the petition of W. S.
Seymore and sixty others of the Fourth Election District of
Talbot County, relating to the Local Oyster Law.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

On motion by Mr. Steiner, it was

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr.
Welfley's absence yesterday was in consequence of private
business.
