Whereupon, it appeared by viva voce vote of each Senator
and Member present, (a majority of all the Members elected
to both Houses, being present and voting) that upon a

JOINT VOTE

Hon James Black Groome received.................. 73 votes.

" Lewis H. Steiner ".................. 17 "

" John M. Robinson ".................. 2 "

" James A. Garey ".................. 1 "

Whereupon, it appearing that the Hon. James Black
Groome had received a majority of all the votes cast (a ma-
jority of all the members elected to both Houses being present
and voting. )

The Chairman declared that the Hon. James B. Groome
having received a majority of all the votes cast by the Joint
Assembly, (a majority of all the Members elected to both
Houses being present and voting, ) he is therefore elected
Senator from the State of Maryland to the Congress of the
United States for the terra of six years, commencing on the
4th day of March, 1879.

The Chairman then announced that the Joint Assembly

had finished the business for which it had assembled.

Whereupon,

The Joint Assembly adjourned.
