Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.
The President presented to the Senate the following com-
munication :

Dear Sir: We have the honor of submitting in accord-
ance with resolutions of the City Council of Baltimore
the enclosed Act, and ask its passage.

Which was read, and referred to the Baltimore City
Senators.
On motion by Gorman,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller
of the Treasury in settling the amount due the State by the
Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company for the
State Tax upon its gross receipts, to deduct therefrom the
amount of taxes erroneously paid the State by the Consoli-
dation Coal Company upon the valuation of the property of
said Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad, included by
mistake in the valuation of the stock of the Consolidation
Coal Company, and to deduct the amount of the valuation
of property from the valuation of the stock of the Consolida-
tion Coal Company for the purposes of taxation.
