Whereupon, it appearing that no person had received a
majority of all the votes cast, the Chairman declared that no
person had been elected by the Joint Convention as Senator
from Maryland, to the Congress of the United States.

Mr. Banks moved that the Joint Assembly do now adjourn.
Mr. Vandiver demanded the yeas and nays.

The Secretary of the Senate then called the yeas ami nays
of the Senate, which appeared as follows:
