House bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Garrett County to correct the assessment made
under Chapter 260, of the Laws of Maryland of 1876, in the
shares of stock of the Lochiel Lumber, Mining, Manufactur-
ing and Improvement Company of Allegany County,

Which unfavorable report was adopted.

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money
to pay L. F. Colton & Co. for paper furnished, and for
printing and binding and distributing the report of the Board
of State School Commissioners, for the year 1876, as per or-
der of the Governor, in compliance with the Acts of 1872,
Chapter 377, sub-Chapter 12, Section 11.

Which was read the second time.
Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Cecil County to refund to or credit Philip S. B.
Conner and Edward E. Conner with certain taxes paid by
them on account of an erroneous assessment of their prop-
erty in said county.

Said bill being upon its second reading,
Mr. Miller submitted the following amendment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out the word "required," in 2d line, Section 1, and
insert "empowered in their discretion."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller to
refund to August Bender the sum of $40, erroneously paid
by him as tax on his commission as weigher of hay.

Which was read the second time.
Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to pay Nathaniel Watts, of Bal-
timore County, a sum of money due him for constructing a
stone wall at State Cattle Scales.

Which was read the second time.
