The Secretary of the Senate then proceeded to read from
the Journal of the Senate, proceedings had upon the subject
in the Senate of Maryland on yesterday.
After which,
The Clerk of the House of Delegates read from the Journal
of the House the proceedings had in that Body upon the same
subject on the same day.
Whereupon, it appearing that no person had received a
majority of all the votes cast in both Houses for Senator in
Congress,
The Speaker of the House of Delegates, as Chairman of the
Joint Convention, declared that no person had been elected
Senator from Maryland in the Congress of the United States.
The Secretary of the Senate then proceeded to call the roll
of the Senate,
Whereupon,
Mr. Lloyd, President, named Hon. Samuel Hambleton.
