Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Select Committee of five, three
on the part of the House and two on the part of the Senate,
to visit the Maryland Penitentiary, and to examine into its
present condition, the manner in which it is conducted, and
to report to the two Houses.

We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs.
Burt, Dennis and Johnston.

at the January Session, 1876, entitled an Act to amend an
Act entitled an Act to incorporate the Methodist Episcopal
Church of Frederick, passed February 24, 1841, Chapter
125.
