of a misdemeanor, and upon indictment and conviction
thereof may be fined for each and every said offence a sum
not less than ten dollars, nor more than five hundred dollars,
in the discretion of the Court.
SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That the Governor shall ap-
point a commission of three competent persons, to examine
the mines of Allegany and Garrett Counties, and report be-
fore the next session of the General Assembly, with recom-
mendations for such legislation as to said commission may
appear just and necessary for the proper supervision and
regulation of said mines.
SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the date of its passage.

House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money
to pay the claims of James S. Watkins, John Brohawn and
John Kelly.
House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money
to pay N. C. Robertson, Clerk of the Baltimore City Court,
the cost and expenses in certain cases in which the State of
Maryland was the plaintiff, and judgments rendered in favor
of the defendants.
House bill entitled an Act to pay Margaret S. Mitchell, a
widow, and to William B. Wirt, John S. Wirt and Henry
B. Wirt, a sum of money erroneously paid into the Treasury.
House bill entitled an Act to repeal Chapter 262, of the
Public General Laws of the State of Maryland of 1872, en-
titled an Act to ratify and confirm the appointment by the
Governor of Daniel Clarke and Sidney I. Wailes, as Com-,
missioners in behalf of the State of Maryland, to prosecute
the settlement of the claims of said State against the Gov-
ernment of the United States, for expenses incurred under
the Act of Congress, approved on the 27th of July, 1861,
&c.,
