that your Honorable Body will not consider, the early Pro-
vincial stores of Maryland unworthy of being added, in this
way, to the natural stock.

In testimony of this, the Society directs its
< Seal. > Secretaries to transmit the above to your
Honorable Body, as its approving mem-
morial, voted at its annual meeting in
Baltimore, on this llth day of Febru-
ary, 1878.

Library.

Mr. McLane presented the memorial from the wholesale
liquor dealers of Baltimore to the General Assembly of
Maryland.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Mr. Wilson presented the petition of 1,051 citizens of Cal-
vert County, praying for the repeal of Chapter 306, of the
Acts of 1876, commonly called the Local Option Law, and
the substitution in lieu thereof, of a stringent License Law.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Steiner presented the 8th and 9th Annual Reports of
the Maryland Institution, for the education of the Deaf and
Dumb.

Which were read, and referred to the Committee on Edu si-
tion.

Mr. Lancaster presented the petition of J. S. Warren, Jr.,
and 33 others, citizens of Charles County, praying for an
Act to extend the time for the removal of the gates from the
public roads in said county.

Which was read and referred to Senators Lancaster, Hill
and Combs, of St. Mary's.

Mr. Stump presented the petition of Amos H. Hughes,
and 20 others, citizens of Harford County, praying that the
Public School Law may be so amended as to provide for the
election of School Commissioners by the votes of the people.
