278 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 20,

Mr. Lee presented the petition of Jacob Wilson, and 363
other citizens of Carroll County, against the passage of a
Local Option Law, and against the introduction of the Moffit
Bell Punch.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

The Hon. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, appeared and
delivered a communication from the Executive, endorsed
"Executive business."

House bill entitled an Act to incorporate the town of New
Market, in Frederick County,

Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays, as
follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. President, Hill,

Bannon, Joyce,
Combs, of St. Mary's, Lee,

Dennis, Miller,

Ford, Newcomer,

Freeman, Stump,

Garey, Sulivane,

Gorman Welfley,

Hepbron, Wilson—18.

NEGATIVE—None.
Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Ford,

At 8:30 P. M., the Senate went into Executive Session.
At 8:45 P.M.,

The Senate resumed the consideration of legislative bu-
siness.

When,

On motion by Mr. Joyce,
The Senate adjourned.
