At 2.45 P. If., the Senate resumed the consideration of
legislative business,

When,

On motion by Mr. Lee,
The Senate adjourned.

WEDNESDAY, February 20th, 1878.
Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. B. S. Highley.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Bannon, Combs, of Allegany, Combs,
of St. Mary's, Cooper, Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Freeman,
Garey, Gorman, Hepbron, Hill, Humphreys, Joyce, Lancas-
ter, Lee, McLane, Miller, Newcomer, Peter, Stump, Sulivane,
Welfley, Wilson—25.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

The President presented to the Senate the memorial of A.
M. Denny and 14 others, citizens of Talbot County, praying
for a law to prevent the taking or catching of fish in the
waters of Wye and Miles rivers, other than by book and line,
for the period of four years, and that terrapins shall only be
caught with oyster tongs or paws.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Combs, of Allegany, presented the petition of David
Sloan and 23 others, citizens of Allegany County, praying
for an Act to incorporate the town of Lonaconing, in said
county.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations,

Mr. Wilson presented the petition of George H. Jones and
50 others, citizens of Calvert County, asking for an amend-
ment of the present law, so as to require all grain carried to
Baltimore for sale to be weighed by a State Weigher.
