228 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 14,

Mr. McLane presented the memorial of sundry citizens of
Baltimore City, praying for the repeal of the law licensing
gaugers of casks and liquids for the City of Baltimore.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Inspec-
tions.

Also,

The petition of George Small, George F. Anderson and
23 others, citizens of Baltimore City, praying for the passage
of a law to require an entire new registration of voters.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee ou Elec-
tions.

Also,

The memorial of the Medical Faculty of the University of
Maryland, praying exemption from taxation on the Univer-
sity Building.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Mr. Ford presented the memorial of the School Commis-
sioners of Queen Anne's County, protesting against the pas-
sage of the Act legalizing the Act of the late Comptroller in
the distribution of the School Fund, and ignoring the decis-
ion of the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County in the man-
damus case between said Comptroller and the School Board
of Prince George's County.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Also,

The petition of John McFadclen and 52 others, citizens of
Queen Anne's County, against the passage of a Local Option
Law.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Temperance.

On motion by Mr. Cooper, it was

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Senators
Bannon and Hepbron are absent from the Senate to-day on
account of official business.

Mr. McLane submitted the following :

Leave to withdraw from the files of the Senate the maps
accompanying the Report of the Advisory Board relative to
Bulkhead and Pier Head Lines, of Baltimore Harbor, the
