We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs. Hum-
phreys and Lancaster.

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Senate bill entitled an Act to revive the Western Tele-
graph Company,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Mr. Dennis moved to reconsider the vote by which the en-
acting clause was stricken out of Senate bill entitled an Act
for the prevention of cruelty to animals in the State of Mary-
land.

On the question being put,

It was decided in the affirmative, and,

On motion by Mr. McLane,

Was referred to the Baltimore city Senators.

Senate bill entitled an Act to release certain claims of the
State against Collectors, Sheriffs and others, and to discon-
tinue the suits for the recovery, thereof,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend the charter and en-
large the powers of the Maryland Coal Company,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for-
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to prescribe and define the duties;
of the Comptroller of the Treasury, relative to the apportion-
ment and distribution of the revenue derived from the annual
tax levied for the support of Free Public Schools, and to eon-
firm the apportionments and distributions thereof heretofore
made by that officer,

Being upon its second reading,
On motion by Mr. Gorman,
The further consideration of said bill was postponed.

Senate bill entitled an Act to cede to the United States, the
title to the land occupied by the Antietam National Cemetery,
